I was hoping that since I was sort of split down the middle on how I felt about Half-Blood, the previous book in the Covenant Series that I may possibly like PURE, but that was not the case.
One problem I am having with this series is when I am reading it is talking forever to read, it’s what I would call, slow-paced and that really puts me off. Alex didn’t really change for me. I still had the same problems that I did in Half-Blood. Alex is a heroine that frustrates me to no end. I still feel like she still has that same attitude I hate from the previous book. And I can’t like a book where I don’t like the heroine.
Aiden frustrated me even more in PURE. I didn’t think that would be possible, but it was. I understand Aiden, I really do, but I wish he could’ve been more sensitive. Maybe he could have done things differently, but maybe I just didn’t connect with it either. As usual I loved Seth. I think he was the only thing going for me, but it wasn’t enough to continue on with the Covenant Series.
And Let’s see, there were probably hundreds of other things I didn’t like and it was the world of The Covenant. Half-Bloods being slaves and the Counsel wanting it to be that way with all Half-Bloods. I think the second half of the book with the Counsel made me want to throw the books across the room.
I just have a big problem in books where some characters act like they are better than everyone else. A lot of books become like this, but it all depends on how it fits into the book for me and in this case it made me incredible angry and unable to enjoy the book.
I know there are many fans of this series, so please do try PURE if you liked the first book. If you were a fan from the beginning you will probably love it all the same. I just didn’t love it.
